Your website (projects)
A project is one website you measure. Create one with your site's address, and change the address any time.
A project is one website you measure. It has its own KPIs, its own impact checks, and its own Tag Manager connection, so results from two sites never mix.
A project is one website you measure. Everything for that site lives inside it: its KPIs, its impact checks and its Tag Manager connection.
One notebook per subject
At school you keep one notebook for math and another one for history, so the notes never get mixed up.
Needlr does the same: one project per website. Numbers from two sites never end up in the same answer.
When to make a new project
- A website or app you want to measure.
- A second site, like your shop next to your marketing site.
- A new page on the same site: it belongs in the same project.
- A new idea to test: that's a new impact check, not a new project.
- Your site moved to a new address: change the address instead (see below).
How to create a project
- 1In the side menu, open Projects.
- 2Press + New project. You can also press the Add a website box on that page, or + New project in the menu under a project's name.
- 3Fill in Project name, like Marketing site, and What's your website?, like example.com.
- 4Press Create. Needlr opens the project's Settings tab.
- 5On the same tab, connect Google Tag Manager (how).
Only owners and editors can create projects. In the welcome tour, Connect your site does it in one step and names the project after your domain (more).
Rules for the address
- It must be a secure site: its address starts with https.
- Type the site, not a page. If you paste a full link, Needlr keeps only the site part.
- One website per project. The www version comes with it: example.com also lets www.example.com send data.
- Only this site can send data to the project. Visits from any other address are ignored.
How to change the address
- 1Open the project and go to the Settings tab.
- 2On the Your website card, press Change website.
- 3Type the new address and press Save. Changed your mind? Press Cancel.
Does the new site load a different Tag Manager container? Then press Disconnect on the Tag Manager card, connect again, and pick the new container (how).
What you'll see on the Projects page
At the top, four numbers sum up your account: Checks running, Verdicts so far, Measured visitors this month and Plan. Under them, each project is a card:
- A green dot: the website is set and Tag Manager is connected. Ready to measure.
- An amber dot: something is missing, and the card says what: Add your website to start. or Connect Google Tag Manager to start measuring.
- A grey dot: the demo project, with sample data.
- Running, Next verdict and Last verdict: what's happening in that project now.
- At the bottom: GTM connected, GTM needs attention or GTM not connected, and how many impact checks it has.
How many projects you can have
As many as you need, on every account. Add one project for each website (plans).
Deleting a project
On the Settings tab, press Delete project, type the project's name and press Delete forever. Its KPIs, impact checks and data are deleted for good, and Needlr removes its own tags from your Tag Manager. If Tag Manager is connected, Needlr asks for your authenticator code first.
Common mistakes
- A new project for every impact check. One site is one project, and its impact checks go inside it.
- An address without https. Needlr only accepts secure sites.
- Forgetting the second step. A project with an address but no Tag Manager can't measure yet. The amber dot reminds you.
What the video says
A project is one website you measure. It has its own KPIs, its own impact checks, and its own Tag Manager connection, so results from two sites never mix.
On the Projects page, press New project. Give it a name and your site's address, then Create. Needlr opens its settings, ready for the next step.
The address matters. Only that site can send data to the project, so stray traffic can't pollute your numbers. It must be a secure site, and the www version comes along automatically.
Moved to a new domain? In the project's Settings tab, press Change website, type the new address and save. From that moment, only the new address can send data.
The Projects page shows every site at a glance: a green dot when it's ready to measure, amber while setup is missing, plus what's running and the last verdict.
Set the address once, and every number in that project comes from your real visitors, on your real site. That's the foundation every verdict stands on.
